jewelery making
Today we have had the BEST day, because Marg came at 9.30 and taught us how to make paua shell jewelery. We even put silver on it. First we designed on paper, then we chose our design and traced it on to sticky paper and put on the paua. We drove up to Margs house and she cut the shapes out. This part was really tricky. Then Marg used the diamon cutter to cut the shapes out in more detail. We weren't allowed to use this because it was VERY dangerous. It had water going onto it and poor Marg got her hands FREEZING! Then we used the sander inside and made it smooth. This took ages. We came back to school and traced our silver. We transfered this to sticky paper, and put it on the silver. Marg had to cut it out with a very sharp blade. We had to scratch the under side of the silver so it would stick and sand the edges. Then we got the glue and stuck our silver on. Marg took the pauas home with clamps on them so the silver sticks. Next week we are going to finish them.
