Lynton Downs - Fun but fast
Today we had visitors from Lynton Downs School and Miss Carpinter came to listen to our Festival of Songs. She thought that Lynton Downs and us were the BEST singers in the world. We had so much fun that we didn't have enough time to do all the activities that we had planned. Never mind, we will go and visit them next term and they will come back here. We had sausages for lunch YUM!! We collected gold coins for daffodil day. We raised $11. It was quite good having 17 children for a change but quite noisy. Mr Percy kindly gave us some daffodil day tattos

Technology Challenge
Last night Melissa and Amelia went to Kaikoura to the Technology Challenge. They had to make amazing creations with newspaper, string and sellotape. Amelia got 1st place in her last challenge and Melissa got 3rd place in the same challenge. They had to make a flag pole with a flag on the top and the highest pole that stood by itself won first place. Amelia won a small radio. Melissa won lip gloss.
Today we have been VERY busy making our fathers day presents which is a secret. They are cool.
We did our mihi to practise and made this interesting book so we can memorise them. We are going to take them home tonight for our parents to check the name of our mountain and river.
We collected pine needles to place around our strawberry plants.
We achieved our goals in cross country - except Mrs Nimmo!! who has a cold!
It is only 6 days until Hannahs birthday and we ALL have invitations and we ALL are very excited.

FUN DAY
On Friday we had a biking day with olden day bikes from Heritage Education. Cynthia and Mr Orchard brought us lots of old bikes. One even had a flat tyre so we couldn't ride it. There was this scooter that had brakes and the brakes fell off.
Yesterday we got a package at Mrs Nimmo's house. We opened it today and there was a soft toy dolphin and Melissa is the winner! Melissa has named it Noodles. Kind Melissa is going to share Noodles with the rest of the class. What an exciting parcel it was.
We will have to write to Jodie to thank her.

Where the Wild Things Are
No they are not at Woodbank School. We are doing a unit on the book called Where the Wild Things Are. We looked at some interesting words from the story which we wrote on a monster word and laminated it. We also found some letters that make up the words to make a display in our classroom. We will show you later on.
We were supposed to do this unit last term BUT ... we ran out of time. We are just too busy and having too much FUN everyday!
Arthur is coming back to teach us this afternoon about religious instruction,

Whales, Skiing and more ...
Well have we got lots of news today. Today Melissa and Amelia went to Whale Watch with Ms Nimmo and Evan. We saw 2 whales, 300 dusky dolphins, some seals and 1 albatross. Our favourites were the gorgous dusky dolphins. Gosh they can show off. They jumped and jumped right in front of us, high up in the air.
While the 2 big girls were whale watching, Tanya Jenkins came to speak to the 3 little girls at school about Conservation Week. She bought us 3 new books for our library, some stickers, some leaflets and a colouring in to do. The books are really cool.
Yesterday we went to Mt Lyford skiing. The weather was sometimes a bit snowy and windy. Sometimes snow was falling down. Everyone is very good at skiing now. We had a lot of fun.

Thhursday fun
This afternoon Jacqui Clayton came to work with Mrs King and Ms Nimmo. We worked quietly drawing pictures about the sun and what it is like having no sun!
This morning we learnt some things about the sun: Zoe learnt the sun is our closest star. Hannah learnt that we must not look at the sun because we might get blind. Jessica-Rose learnt that the sun makes us warm and we can't live without the sun.
